How to Unlock Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Bootloader :

We have put together a step-by-step guide on how to Unlock Redmi Note 4 Bootloader and install TWRP recovery. Please read the tutorial carefully. We request you to read the full tutorial once before actually performing in your device.

To Remember :

  • This unlocking bootloader tutorial is only for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Please don’t try this on any other variants of Xiaomi.
  • This tutorial has been performed on Windows, but anyone familiar with Fastboot on Mac or Linux can perform this as well.
  • Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding as it will erase all data.
  • You may void your warranty by unlocking the bootloader.


  • Download Mi Flash Unlock Tool zip file and extract it on your computer (desktop).
  • Open Setting of your phone and go to about phone. Tap on “Buid Number” 7 times to enable “Developers Option”.
  • Go to “Developers Options” and tick “Allow OEM unlock” and “Android Debugging”.

How to Unlock Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Bootloader:

Step 1: Open the file “MiFlashUnlock.exe” from your desktop.
You will see a message in a new window like this:
“Sign in with your MI Account to unlock device.”

Step 2: Create an MI account (If you don’t have already) and login.
Step 3: Now the unlock process will start on your phone automatically and you’ll receive a message:

“You don’t have the permission to Unlock the device”.

Step 4: Click on “Go” button or go to this link to get the unlock permission.
Step 5: Now click on “Unlock Now” button and login with your Mi account you just created.

Step 6: Now wait until you get an OTP (one-time password) on your phone. It may take up to several days till you get the SMS. (Most of the time the SMS arrives in just a few hours).
Step 7: Now open the MI Flash Tool again on your computer and this time you’ll have the permission to unlock your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
Step 8: Unlock your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 using the unlock tool.
That’s it! Your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 should now have Unlocked Bootloader. Switch Off and restart the phone.
